Douglas Race was raised in Vancouver and attended the University of British Columbia. He graduated with Degrees in Commerce and Law. He was called to the Bar of the province of British Columbia in 1973 and has practiced law continually since that date. Initially, Doug practiced in the areas of civil litigation and matrimonial law, but now restricts his practice to corporate, commercial, real estate, and wills and estates.

In 1978, Doug moved to Whistler from Vancouver and joined Harley Paul in practice. He opened the Whistler office of what is now Race & Company. At that time, Whistler was a community of approximately five hundred people, but on the verge of development into the world-class resort it is today.

In 1986, Doug moved to Squamish and now practices from the Squamish office of Race & Company. He is actively involved in the community of Squamish, being a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Squamish and having served as Chair of a recent hospital fundraising campaign.

Doug has been an active sailor since childhood and has participated in yacht races all over North America and Europe. In recent years, he has campaigned his own yacht "Ballenas" in local races. He also enjoys skiing and hiking in the local mountains and is an active recreational runner and cyclist.

Ian Davis was born in Montreal and raised in the predominantly English-speaking neighbourhood of Montreal West. He first attended Elizabeth Ballentyne Elementary, then Wentworth School for a year of French immersion and what is now known as the Royal West Academy.

Following High School, Ian enrolled in Dawson CEGEP in their Marketing and Business Administration program. One of his professors at Dawson encouraged him to proceed to university. Ian took the professor's advice and enrolled at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario.

While attending Queen's University, Ian's study interests broadened to include a variety of disciplines. He studied in the Math, Psychology, English and Economics faculties before acquiring an Honours Degree in Economics. From there, Ian embarked on a Law degree, which he completed in May 1987 at Queen's.

Ian arranged articles while on a skiing vacation in Whistler with the Vancouver Law Firm now known as Boughton, Pederson, Yang, Anderson. He commenced articles in August of 1987, after taking the summer of 1987 off to travel through Europe by rail. Following articles, Ian migrated north to join Race & Company. He worked for a year and a half in the firm's Squamish office prior to joining the Whistler office, where he has practiced 1990.

Ian has enjoyed a very diverse practice in his years as a lawyer. In the first half of his career, he practiced mainly in the areas of Personal Injury and Criminal Law. In 1994, he developed a practice as a general solicitor. This decision was prompted somewhat by the expectation of a third child in January 1995.

Until settling into the profession of lawyer, Ian worked in distinguished occupations as YMCA Camp Counsellor, YMCA Camp Canoe Trip Guide, store clerk, Big Brother summer program worker, busboy, and tree planter.

Ian has served his community as a director of the Dandelion Daycare Society, as a director of the Whistler Hockey Association, and as a Division II soccer coach. Currently, he continues to provide advice to the Daycare Society, is Chairman of the Whistler Chamber of Commerce, and a Director of the Whistler Workers Cup Society and Whistler Black Bear Task Force Committee. He has volunteered as a Whistler Weasel Worker in construction of the Whistler World Cup Downhill for 5 years.

Nancy Wilhelm-Morden was born in Kitchener, Ontario. She first visited Whistler (then known as Alta Lake) in 1973 for a two-week holiday. Like so many others, she caught the Whistler bug and became a permanent resident. She carried on with her studies, however, graduating from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1983. She completed her articles with Sutton Braidwood and was called to the Bar in 1984. After working as an associate for both Sutton Braidwood and Watson Goepel Maledy, Ms. Wilhelm-Morden opened her own practice in Whistler in 1987. The practice very quickly caught fire and she subsequently merged it with Race & Company in 1988. She has been a partner since that time.

Nancy is a trial lawyer and acts for individuals and corporations. For the past thirteen years, her emphasis has been personal injury litigation. She has appeared at all levels of court in this province and has participated in numerous mediations. She has lectured for Continuing Legal Education and conducted courses for the People's Law School. She is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia.

Nancy continues to hold the belief in community service instilled in her as a child. She has held office as a Whistler municipal councillor in 1984, 1988 and 1996. She has been a director of the Elizabeth Fry Society, the Whistler Chamber of Commerce, Dandelion Daycare Society and the Whistler Health Care Foundation. She was a founding director and currently sits as president of the Community Foundation of Whistler.
